TWIN needles with a 2.5 mm gap.
How to use the "STRETCH Twin Needle" on a sewing machine
- Activate the twin needle mode or select a similar button on your sewing machine (if available) to limit the stitch width. This prevents the needle from hitting the needle plate and breaking.
- Before starting work, check the thread tension by making some test stitches on scrap fabric. Adjust the tension so that the bobbin thread forms a slight zigzag shape in the seam. This will ensure an elastic stitch.
- Reduce the sewing speed slightly on thicker fabric layers to avoid needle breakage.
- Do not pull or push the fabric while sewing, as this can cause uneven stitch length or, worse, break the needle.
- For a smooth and even stitch without bumps, use spray starch or a water-soluble stabilizer during sewing.
Surface coating:
Standard
Tip shape:
Medium rounded tip
Main features:
Two Stretch needles connected by a flat shank: ideal for sewing two parallel elastic seams simultaneously.
Color coding:
None
With the Stretch twin needle, you can create professional and elastic seams for T-shirts and other knitwear, even without a special coverstitch machine. A regular household sewing machine can simultaneously create two precise and elastic parallel seams using two upper threads.
The medium rounded needle tip gently separates fabric loops without damaging them. This helps prevent holes from forming. Thanks to the special shank design, the needle is closer to the hook, which together with the special bend prevents skipped stitches even in very elastic knit fabrics.
Note:
The needle connection color is now red (previously blue). This change does not affect the needle's technical properties.
Before sewing:
The Stretch twin needle can be used in all standard household sewing machines with a zigzag function. Like other household needles, it is inserted into the needle holder so that the flat side faces away from you.
The needle plate and presser foot must have a sufficiently large cutout for the chosen needle spacing.
Threading the needle:
Each of the two needles requires a separate thread spool. If you do not have a second thread holder, use the bobbin for the second thread and place it on the holder under the first thread spool.
Make sure both threads are pulled in the same direction. Guide the threads through the sewing machine guides together as one, then separate and thread each thread through its respective needle eye. Some machines have special thread separators – please follow your machine’s instructions.
Important:
The automatic needle threading function does not work with twin needles!
Fabrics / applications:

- T-shirt hems and edges
- Decorative seams in various colors

Warning: Make sure your sewing machine has a sufficiently wide needle plate and presser foot opening to safely use a twin needle with a large spacing between needles. Using the wrong needle can damage the sewing machine or cause needle breakage.
