DPx5 SD1, 135x5 SD1 are SCHMETZ industrial sewing machine needles for sewing fine leather, imitation leather, and coated materials. The special SD1 tip combines a slight cutting action with material displacement, helping produce a neat, straight seam.

SD1 cutting point features

SD1 (Round Point with Small Triangular Tip) is a round needle point with a small triangular cutter. The cutter pierces approximately 10% of the stitch hole, while the conical round point displaces the rest of the material.

Compared with pronounced cutting points, SD1 creates a smaller cut and helps reduce needle deflection. It is also suitable for multidirectional sewing, where a consistent seam appearance in different directions is important.
