Natural black cowhide leather offcuts are an excellent choice for projects that require durable, shape-retaining, high-quality genuine leather. The leather is approximately 2 mm thick, with a smooth surface and a natural aniline finish, preserving the authentic look and feel of genuine leather.
This is full-grain cowhide leather. The manufacturer's technical information states that the leather is chrome-tanned, then retanned with vegetable tannins, drum-dyed, and finished with aniline. This process combines the material's durability with the natural character of the leather surface.
The leather is firm, pliable, and shape-retaining, but not stretchy. It is easy to work with and suitable for both hand sewing and sewing with a suitable industrial leather sewing machine.
Leather piece sizes
The leather pieces are irregularly shaped. The size designation helps compare the approximate size of the pieces, while the centimetre measurements listed for each option indicate its approximate dimensions.
| Size | Approximate piece dimensions |
|---|---|
| XS | 15 × 20 cm |
| M | 20 × 30 cm — approx. A4 |
| L | 29–30 × 40 cm — approx. A3 |
| XL | 30 × 70 cm or 40 × 60 cm |
| XXL | 35 × 100 cm, 40 × 90 cm, or 60 × 60 cm |
Pieces in the same size group may have different proportions. So when choosing leather for your project, also consider the centimetre measurements listed for the specific option.
The stated dimensions are approximate and do not guarantee that a rectangle of the same size can be cut from the piece.
Every piece of genuine leather is unique. Individual pieces may vary slightly in shade, grain, shape, and surface pattern—these are characteristics of a natural material.

Important information about genuine leather offcuts
Every genuine leather offcut is unique. As leather is a natural material and these are offcuts, they may have:
- irregular edges and shapes;
- minor scratches or scuffs;
- pressure marks or creases;
- slight variations in shade and texture;
- natural pores, scars, and other signs of the leather's structure;
- small cuts, holes, or other characteristics typical of offcuts.
The aniline finish highlights the natural character of the leather, so surface variations and natural features are not necessarily defects. The leather is reasonably moisture-resistant, but its surface can be scratched.
