Are you ready to give your home an artistic decor while organizing your spools? Today I will share with you a creative and useful project - making a wooden spool holder at home. It is not only a great way to organize your spools, but also a wonderful wall decor that will enhance your sewing corner!
This spool holder was made more than a year ago, and I am very happy that I took the time to create it.
YOU NEED
1. Wooden board - choose a material and size that will fit well in your space and will be large enough to accommodate your coils. You can use new or old wood that has its own unique aura.
I have a pine wood board that was left over from making shelves in the workshop.
2.Instruments- Sandpaper, saw, hammer, drill - to process and level the surface.
3. Color and brushes - choose colors that match your home interior or complement the spool design.
I have some wall paint left over and decided to use it to paint the tree as well.
4. Wooden dowels or longer nails - to hang the coils. I bought these at the Cēsis building materials store.
GET TO WORK
1. Prepare the wooden base
If you use wood, then sand it with sandpaper to smooth the surface and remove excess material.
2. Make notes
Depending on the planned number of screws and the surface, make marks with a pencil.
3. Drill holes
Hold the drill at an angle so that the dowels can be driven in at an angle and the springs hold better.
Here I received a lot of comments from my husband that I should use a smaller drill or tape... BUT... I was too lazy! 🤦♀️
3. Color
Choose colors that will fit in your space. You can use one color or create various patterns and designs. Leave the paint to dry before continuing. Of course, you can also choose not to paint at all.
4. Insert dowels or nails
4. Organize the spools
Place the spools on your newly created spool holder. Organize them by color or size, and give your space a new and artistic decor.
5.Last works
Depending on your wishes, you can further decorate it. I had an extra sticker and I put it to use.
I hung it with a cotton string that was left over from old projects.

Get to work and create your wooden spool holder today! This is a project that all family members can participate in and create something great together.
